The magic undersea world of Arctic snorkeling and free diving

Nyksund is located on the outer edge of Vesterålen, right next to the ocean. Nyksund is a small town with a vibrant local community and coastal culture, with a small fishing quay, several restaurants, art exhibitions, a bookstore and secondhand shop.

Nyksund offers nature in the raw, both above and below the water. This is where the famous mountain route Dronningruta starts from, and this summer we offer safe guided underwater excursions to fantastic snorkeling- and freediving sites with beautiful landscapes, huge kelp- and seaweed forests and a uniquely rich sealife.

The time has come to discover for yourself what the ocean covering 70% of the earth's surface really looks like – in vivid close up.

You can choose whether to go snorkelling on the surface, or try the more adventurous free diving. Free diving involves using your lungs as your only air reserve, which gives you more freedom and more time to explore the underwater environment.
